Innovative Rotating Mechanism

The rotating platforms of the café and restaurant rest on 96 rubber-mounted rollers, driven by electric motors through a three-speed gearbox – ensuring smooth and steady rotation for an unforgettable panoramic experience.

Regular Maintenance

To ensure smooth operation, the rollers are serviced every January and replaced if necessary – guaranteeing a seamless panoramic experience all year round.

Complete Overhaul

In 2023, after nearly 60 years of operation, the rotating mechanism underwent a comprehensive overhaul to ensure continued reliability and performance.

650kg

The 650 kg gearbox, originally installed in 1964, was carefully removed as part of the overhaul.

Restoration Success

The gearbox was restored in Germany and successfully reinstalled on 30 November 2023 — a process that took 30 hours in total.

In the 2000s, the Turm Café received a contemporary update. While the classic Viennese coffeehouse atmosphere was preserved, it was enhanced with modern elements.
