Europe's highest  Slide

The art project by renowned artist Carsten Höller has been offering visitors a breathtaking experience as Europe's highest slide since 15 November 2023.

The transparent slide runs along the north side of the tower from the central floor at a height of 165 metres to the viewing level at 150 metres. Brave guests can expect a unique mix of art, adrenaline and spectacular views.

As a special memento, visitors can purchase a souvenir photo at the slide exit at 150 metres - a memento of this unique experience.

On 3 October 2023, the illuminated ‘Danube Tower Slide’ was hoisted by helicopter onto the Vienna Danube Tower for assembly.

The Experience

Central Level at 165 Metres

At a height of 165 metres, the so-called Central Level of the Donauturm forms the key hub connecting technology, gastronomy and panoramic views.

This is where the express lifts arrive: The main exit leads into a circular foyer, from which you can access two large panoramic windows on the left and right.

Even the restrooms on this level offer a special highlight – large windows provide a unique view over Vienna.

The other half of the Central Level is not accessible to guests: It houses the central kitchen, which is connected via two food lifts to the Turm Café and the Turm Restaurant.

Two twin staircases with landings connect the Central Level to the two dining areas:

  • Turm Café at 160 m

  • Turm Restaurant at 170 m

A rare glimpse into the modern architecture of the 1964 opening era – clearly structured, functional, and featuring large window fronts for that very first panoramic view.
